Baby Boy Nursery: One Room Challenge Week 2

orcI’m convinced that pregnancy is making me a dumb dumb, and after confiding in my mama-friends they tell me that not only am I right, but also that I only have a small percentage of hope that things will go back to normal after giving birth. Pregnancy brain, mom brain, we’ll see if this is forever. Sorry Vit! I feel like I have a big long to-do list, and while I think I can tackle a lot of it each day, my efforts are kind of pathetic once I get to around 8pm. But I swear, it’s not for lack of trying!

Anyway, while not a ton got done this week, I can proudly say that I painted the nursery on my own (and didn’t screw it up), and bought the crib. For the paint, I was ready to go dark, and green was calling my name. With a few colors in mind, I headed to Home Depot to look at some more swatches. Here are the colors I was considering:

I am just now realizing how blue they look in that photo.

I took a leap of faith without testing any swatches (#rebel) and got a gallon of Cameroon Green. I bought the Behr Marquee paint – that stuff is the best. This dark color probably should have taken at least two coats, and after just one coat in few hours while listening to Sheryl Crow Pandora radio, the room was fully painted and looking gooooorgeous.

This color looks different depending on the light. It’s a dark green with a lot of gray and some blue in it. It’s deep yet soothing and I think it really sets the tone for what’s to come.

I also ordered the crib and mattress this week from The reviews are good and the price is great, so I’m looking forward to seeing it in person!

There will be a LOT getting done this weekend – Vito is installing crown moulding and is working on retro-fitting a daybed that was generously given to us to fit under the window well. He’ll also be making frames for my fabric panels that will hang behind the crib.

As for me I need to strip the dresser, sew the curtains, and do a little bit of shopping (darn). Much more to come in the next few weeks!

LOVE the paint color! I think your crib choice is perfect too – it is already coming together so well! And p.s. pregnancy brain is no joke – grr.

It is no joke!! Thanks so much, it’s such a relief when you realize you don’t have to re-paint (been there).
