I very well may be the last guest participant to cross the finish line, but the real importance is that it’s finished!
I’ve probably spent a lot of the time I should have been working instead checking out everyone’s ORC reveals.. I am easily side tracked. But WOW, I am so impressed. There’s some serious talent out there and some of the projects that were taken on in 6 weeks time are no joke.
While we did need to do some electrical, drywall fixing, and a few big DIYs, this master refresh was no kitchen or bathroom to tackle (thank goodness). I think I eased my way into this challenge quite well, and now our bedroom is light, airy and gives me all the feels.
As a reminder, here is where we began.
As a spoiler, the layout is exactly the same, but we have come a long way for sure!
I was going for a more eclectic and bright feel. Bright? definitely accomplished. I’m on the fence if maybe it’s too light, but there is no way in hell I am painting again. Next house.
Alright, here you go!
Here’s a closer look at the DIY headboard. More details on that in a later post! We decided to hang some CB2 hooks on Vito’s side of the bed The nightstands are Ikea RAST dressers. We painted them, added feet and hardware.I’m loving this fabric.com selection for the long pillow!
This armoire is also the same as before, with a few coats of white paint, some added legs, and new lucite hardware. I also kept the existing curtain rods, but raised them and furnished them with some simple Ikea curtains that got a quick hem!
I initially ran into some issues with the African Juju hat I wanted to DIY with getting too small of a feather order. But I think the neutral feathers I picked up at Michael’s to stretch what I had paired with hanging it next to this natural rattan piece, it fills the space just perfectly. I’m loving this angle!
Both of these rugs are old craigslist findsI’ve had this campaign dresser up in our attic for about a year now, but I brought it down for a more vintage vibe. The sunburst mirror could definitely be bigger, but did you know it’s incredibly difficult to find a large, round, simple mirror for under $600 bucks?? This one was $50 from Christmas Tree Shoppe and it’ll do for now!
I love how you can see the round feather and rattan piece within the round mirror!
And that’s a wrap with the One Room Challenge! Check out all of the other talented guest participants here and let me know your thoughts on this refresh!
